What are the minimum system requirements for high speed CD writing (e.g. 12X, 16X)?


Answer:
The fact that you have purchased a 12X or 16X CD-RW drive unfortunately doesn't mean that you can use it at the highest available speed: Your PC system must be fast enough to enable CD writing at high speed.

We'd highly recommend that your system should meet the following requirements for high-speed CD writing:

(1) Processor: Pentium-III 450MHz or above

(2) Memory: 64MB of RAM

(3) Source CD-ROM Speed: 48X

Even when your system meets the requirements above, there is still no gurantee that you will be able to write at high speed. The reason is that your system's performance is a function of many more variables. If you are having problems with 12X/16X, we recommend that you find ways to improve your system's performance by configuration. For example, connect the source CD-ROM and target CD-RW on different IDE channels, etc.
