Why did RealNetworks select NTI's CD engine?
Previously, RealNetworks offered a free version of Roxio software that was limited to a write speed of 2X unless you paid Roxio $19.95 for a plug-in that enabled full-speed burning.

Most people are moving up to higher-speed CD burners and do not want to spend 37 minutes burning a CD. Today's new 48X CD burners can write a full CD in less than 2 minutes.

Microsoft's Windows Media Player was second with a 14.41% reach, followed by QuickTime with 7.49%. Of the users at work, only 1.3% chose Microsoft over RealOne
